I am designating tomorrow a day of NOT running. Today was day 2, week 4 of the C25K plan and if I thought yesterday was hard, I was wrong. Perhaps, given that yesterday was a definite challenge for me to complete, I should have skipped the running today and instead, do a brisk walk for my usual 30 minutes. But noooooo….I had to go and be all hardcore. Ok, well not hardcore…but as close to hardcore as I can get. I managed to maintain my stamina right up until midway of the second 5 minute run and I just fagged out completely. I tried running slow and that really killed in my calves and thighs. I tried lengthening my stride and my shins started to hurt. Lastly, I tried even picking up my pace and well, that attempt ended pretty fast. I had to stop and walk for a minute and then finished the final two minutes. Never was I so happy to hear the app’s voice in my ear-buds say “Cool down.” Dragging my sorry ass the last block home, I collapsed on my driveway and watched the clouds roll overhead.
